Infants
The infant room is highly sought after because of the care our
teachers take to stimulate every baby's development. Our infant
room is stocked with equipment that encourages manipulation
and focuses on strengthening the fine motor skills. Recognizing
that children begin learning about the world around them from
birth, we train our staff to pay attention, just as you do,
to make sure each child is reaching his or her developmental
milestones. While all of our rooms are bright and colorful,
the infant room is especially vibrant with hanging mobiles,
bright carpets, and pictures everywhere. Our teachers
watch closely for "forerunners", to see when each
child exhibits readiness for the next stage of enrichment.
Toddlers (12-24 months)
Our focus on sensory and cognitive stimulation and development
continues in our toddler classrooms. In addition to our center
play and monthly themed activities, sign language instruction
is continued in our toddler room. We also introduce Spanish
to the 12-24 month olds. Our Spanish classes are taught by
Lingual Kids instructors based on a literacy-rich program of
language and cultural instruction enhanced by music and movement.
2 years
We know that at 2 years old children reach a linguistic milestone,
learning more words their second year than at any other single
year of their lives. Our instructors are fueled by this notion,
and that is one of the reasons that we begin introducing components
of the Abeka Curriculum to children at this age. We know that
the Abeka curriculum has proven itself to be a strong instrument
in literacy for young children. So, we gently introduce letters
and sounds at this stage, taking care to design literacy lessons
that reinforce our hands-on approach to developing their fine
and gross motor skills.
Spanish and sign language instruction continues for the 2s.
And boy do they soak it in quickly.
3 years
At three years, science and discovery are of top importance to
young children. We promote this natural interest in the world
around them with our learning center for science and discovery.
At this classroom center, children explore the wonders of the
earth such as gravity and magnetism. We stock this center full
of mini animals, insect replicas, and magnifying glasses that
make it easier for children to observe their tiny parts. To
continue to foster their understanding of the world, we embark
on a year long discovery of our solar system, including the
planets and the heavens above them. It is also at this center
that the building blocks of scientific discovery are laid as
our children are exposed to the scientific method of prediction
(hypothesis), observation, experimentation, and subsequently,
discovery.
4-5 years
At four years old and above children begin to show readiness
for longer periods of instruction. We take advantage of their
readiness by offering small group learning times where we focus
on phonics and counting skills. Abeka flash cards, songs, and
finger play examples are used here.
Another feature of this classroom is its longer periods of circle
time. Circle Time is thematically based, lending itself to singing,
finger plays, and conversation. It can serve as a time for us
to observe each child's comprehension of previous lessons. Circle
Time creates an atmosphere of social development, where we teach
our children to speak in turns and not interrupt. Circle Time
presents a valuable environment where patience, kindness, and
gentleness can be seamlessly reinforced.
In our Kindergarten children
are ready for a more structural setting. We instruct our
children using A Beka Book, which provides Christian schools
with God-honoring curriculum that focuses on leading our students
to Christ and training them in the Bible, Christian character,
language, and traditional subject matters. The A Beka Book
approach keeps learning stimulating, interesting, and enjoyable.
FOR THE PARENTS
Parents of students can enjoy a Parent's Night Out one Saturday
a month from 6:00-11:00pm. Children from 6 weeks to 12 years
are welcome to come enjoy dinner, snacks, games, movies, and
lots of fun. Parents can enjoy this time to themselves, resting
assured that their children are receiving the greatest attention
and care possible. |
